10-year-old girl says her mother kept her caged like an animal and threatened to cut her throat before attempting to strangle her; mother arrested

Kentucky – In a harrowing case in Kentucky, a mother faces severe allegations of abusing her young daughter, including confining her to a dog cage for extended periods. The 31-year-old woman, identified as S. Mann, was arrested on multiple counts related to child abuse.

Mann has been charged with an array of crimes, including strangulation in the first degree, first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, and failure to appear. These charges come after police received a disturbing report involving Mann’s treatment of her 10-year-old daughter.

According to police reports, the abuse occurred over several months, from January 1 to early March of this year. The police chief, R. Richardson, said that the young girl had been forcibly confined inside a dog kennel-style cage for days at a time, only allowed to leave to use the bathroom. During her time in captivity, the girl also reported that her mother threatened to cut her throat, strangled her briefly, and physically abused her by throwing her onto the kitchen floor and sitting on her back. This assault continued until Mann allegedly tied the girl’s hands behind her back with twine, which was also used to secure the dog cage.

Authorities and the community have been shaken by the severity of the allegations. The case not only highlights severe mistreatment but also raises questions about child safety and protective services in the area. The girl told authorities about her attempts to escape, which unfortunately never succeeded. Following the intervention, the child has been placed with foster parents, as confirmed by local law enforcement.

During an interview from jail, Mann denied all allegations, claiming a misunderstanding and asserting her innocence. She defended herself by stating her background in caretaking roles, contradicting the harsh actions she’s accused of. Mann was booked into the county’s detention center with a bond set at $50,000. She is due for an arraignment soon, which will likely attract significant attention due to the nature of the allegations.

This case has deeply affected the community, leading to an outpouring of support for the young victim while sparking broader discussions on the mechanisms in place to protect vulnerable children. As the legal process unfolds, the community and authorities are calling for a thorough investigation and appropriate legal actions to ensure justice for the young victim and to prevent such incidents in the future.
