Father and his girlfriend kept 15-year-old daughter tied to a tree for days because she was untrustworthy and soils herself when going to the toilet and they didn’t want the mess inside; arrested

Oklahoma – In a distressing incident that took place in Oklahoma, a father and his girlfriend were arrested for the severe abuse and neglect of his 15-year-old daughter. The couple allegedly kept the teenager tied up outdoors for days, leading to her needing urgent medical care.

The 40-year-old father, identified as J. James, faces serious allegations of aggravated child abuse and neglect, while his 42-year-old girlfriend, identified as K. Clark, has been charged with enabling child neglect. The arrests were made after the sheriff’s office received a tip on July 28. The caller reported a minor tied up in the backyard of a home, prompting immediate action from local law enforcement.

Upon arrival, deputies found the teenage girl in a dire state, tied up with a ratchet strap between a chicken coop and a shed in the family’s backyard. According to the probable cause affidavit, the girl was discovered sitting on a piece of carpet, visibly distressed with significant injuries, including a hole in her leg. It was revealed during the investigation that she had been in this appalling condition for three days.

The situation unfolded as deputies learned that the family, visiting from Texas, had subjected the girl to this unhuman treatment as a form of discipline. James, upon returning home during the police investigation, admitted to tying his daughter up, justifying his actions by claiming she was untrustworthy and had behavioral issues. Shockingly, he disclosed that her confinement was meant to be a solution to her alleged habit of soiling herself, as he preferred to keep her outside to avoid messes inside the home.

The grandmother of the girl initially hesitated to disclose the truth to the authorities, later admitting her awareness of the abuse but citing fear of James as the reason for her silence. This admission painted a grim picture of the dynamics within the household and the extent of control and fear exerted by James. Both James and Clark were taken to jail, held on a $500,000 bond each, with a court hearing scheduled for August 9. The case has drawn significant attention from the community and the media, highlighting severe lapses in child protection and raising questions about the oversight of child welfare within family units.

Following the rescue, the teenager was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. The Department of Human Services stepped in to take custody of her and other children from the home, ensuring their safety and providing them with the necessary care. The community remains in shock, with many expressing their distress over the abuse inflicted on a defenseless child and calling for stringent actions against those responsible. As this case progresses through the legal system, it continues to highlight the urgent need for effective child protection policies and the enforcement of stricter laws designed to shield children from harm.
