Indiana – In a disturbing case in Indiana, a 25-year-old man, identified as J. Sartin, faces severe legal repercussions after being accused of fatally injuring his girlfriend’s 21-month-old daughter. Sartin has been charged with murder and aggravated battery following the tragic death of the toddler, who suffered extreme brain injuries as a result of being violently shaken. The sequence of events leading to the charges began on July 24, 2024, when emergency services were alerted by hospital staff. Medical professionals were concerned about the suspicious nature of a head injury sustained by the toddler. Initially, Sartin told medical personnel that the child was injured accidentally after falling from an ottoman due to a disturbance caused by the family’s dog. Given the critical nature of her injuries, the child was quickly transferred to another hospital for specialized care. Despite undergoing emergency brain surgery to relieve swelling, the efforts were in vain. In his frustration, Sartin confessed to shaking the child violently for approximately 20 seconds in an attempt to calm her down.
