Highway 198 set for temporary closure northeast of Lepanto for critical bridge repairs

Highway 229 in Saline County to close overnight north of Interstate 30 for drainage installation at new travel center site

Lepanto, Arkansas – Highway 198 northeast of Lepanto is set to close for continuous repairs beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 18, and lasting through 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. This extended closure will allow crews to conduct necessary repairs on a bridge spanning Ditch Number 54.

Details of the Closure and Traffic Detours

The affected section of Highway 198 lies between Highway 140 and Highway 77. While the highway will remain accessible to local traffic on either side of the closure, through traffic will need to follow a detour. The designated detour route will use Highways 140, 14, and 77, with clear signage to guide drivers.

Traffic management measures, including barrels, barricades, message boards, and additional signage, will ensure safety and efficient navigation during the closure period.

Staying Informed About Travel Conditions

Motorists seeking updates or additional travel information are encouraged to visit IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time while the repairs are underway, weather permitting.
