Statewide Holiday Food Drive brings over 21,000 pounds of donations for Arkansans in need

Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders proudly announced the success of the state agency-wide Holiday Food Drive, which gathered an impressive 21,472 pounds of food for donation to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. This initiative reflects the collective effort of Arkansas state employees to support families in need during the holiday season.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections made the largest contribution, donating 6,975 pounds of food. In addition, the Arkansas Department of Inspector General achieved the highest donation rate per employee, collecting an average of 13.6 pounds per staff member.

Governor Sanders emphasized the importance of giving back during the holiday season. “I’m a mom, so I know that Christmas can get chaotic. But in between all the gift-wrapping and cookie-baking, it’s important to remember the reason for the season and give back,” said the Governor. “I’m so proud of the state employees who came together to donate an incredible 21,500 pounds of food to Arkansans in need, helping every family enjoy this Christmas season.”

The food drive demonstrates the strong community spirit of Arkansas’ state agencies and their dedication to helping families enjoy a brighter holiday season. The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance will distribute the donations to ensure that families in need can share in the joy of the holidays.
