Arkansas Department of Transportation schedules public hearing on Highway 71B improvement project

Fort Smith, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is inviting the public to participate in a Location and Design Public Hearing to review and discuss proposed improvements to Highway 71B (Towson Avenue) in Fort Smith. The meeting will take place on Thursday, February 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fort Smith Public Library (Main Branch), located at 3201 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Community Input on Proposed Highway Improvements

The proposed project focuses on enhancing Highway 71B from Highway 271 to Highway 64. ARDOT aims to gather public feedback on the design plans and environmental assessment related to the project. Residents, business owners, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend the meeting to review the materials and provide comments.

For those unable to attend in person, meeting materials will be available online, and written comments can be submitted at several locations, including:

  • ARDOT’s Website, where digital meeting materials will be accessible
  • Fort Smith Public Library (Main Branch) at 3201 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72903

How to Submit Comments

Public comments on the project will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13. Individuals can submit their feedback online through ARDOT’s website or print the comment form and mail it to:
