Scheduled lane closures on Black River Bridge set to last through mid-May

Bridge construction forces temporary closure of Highway 118 between Gooden Road and Felts Street

Corning, Arkansas – Motorists traveling on U.S. Highway 62 near Corning should expect alternating lane closures across the Black River Bridge as crews continue structural repairs. These closures will take place every Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will remain in effect until Thursday, May 15, weather permitting.

Accommodations for Farm Equipment and Traffic Management

To minimize disruptions, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has arranged for both lanes to remain open every Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., ensuring farmers and others transporting large equipment can use the bridge without restrictions. Additionally, no closures will be in effect from Friday through Sunday, allowing for uninterrupted weekend travel.

Safety Measures and Travel Updates

Drivers in the area will be alerted to the closures through digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. ARDOT advises motorists to remain cautious while traveling through the construction zone. Those seeking additional travel information can visit IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov for updates.
