Jefferson County Sheriff announces arrest of jailer following allegations of fraternization with a female detainee

On the evening of March 27, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m., a concerned citizen made a distressing call to the Metropolitan Emergency Communication Association, reporting the discovery of what appeared to be human remains on the bank of the Arkansas River in the Knotts Island area.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded quickly to the call. Upon arriving at the scene, they met with the individual who reported the incident and were guided to the exact location. Deputies then confirmed the disturbing discovery: the remains were human.

Crime Investigators and Coroner Called to Scene

Following the confirmation, the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division was alerted. Investigators arrived on the scene to photograph and collect the remains, taking necessary steps to preserve any possible evidence. The remains were then transported by a Jefferson County deputy coroner to the coroner’s office for further examination.

According to authorities, the remains will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where forensic experts will work to determine a possible identification and cause of death. The next step in the investigation involves sending the remains to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where experts will attempt to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.

Authorities have stated that this is an ongoing investigation, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has not yet disclosed any additional details surrounding the case.
