Minnesota – In a shocking incident that has left a Minnesota community stunned, a 34-year-old mother, identified as E. Stoutenburgh, has been charged after she attempted to slit her son’s throat under the influence of what she described as demonic voices commanding her to kill and drink the boy’s blood. She faces two severe felony charges: attempted second-degree murder without intent and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Authorities say these charges stem from an appalling scene inside the Stoutenburgh residence, where the mother-of-multiple reportedly acted under the control of voices she claimed she could not silence.
The ordeal began to unfold early Sunday morning when deputies from the sheriff’s office were dispatched to the Stoutenburgh family home following a frantic 911 call. The report indicated that a child’s throat had been cut. Deputies arriving at the scene found Stoutenburgh outside behaving erratically. She was quickly restrained, reportedly telling officers to not take the handcuffs off. According to court documents, the call for help was placed by Stoutenburgh’s husband. While at work, he had received a terrifying phone call from his wife. She allegedly told him that “they” had taken over her and were demanding the deaths of their children.
The “they,” as later revealed in the criminal affidavit, were described by Stoutenburgh as two demons named “Bondage” and “Infirmity.” She told law enforcement that these entities had taken control of her mind, ordering her to commit horrifying acts. She confessed to waking up that morning hearing voices and claimed she was “unable to control” them. Among other grotesque acts, she said the demons compelled her to eat dog waste and desecrate the body of a recently euthanized pet duck. Officers confirmed that the duck’s severed head was found in the kitchen, resting on a cutting board with a bloody spoon nearby. She had allegedly cut the head open and eaten one of the duck’s eyes.
But the darkest revelation came when Stoutenburgh described how the demons ordered her to kill her sleeping son and drink his blood. She told police that she entered the boy’s room, rolled him over, and tried to cut his throat. The knife, however, was too dull to break the skin. She claimed the voices demanded she sharpen it and return to finish the act. She did sharpen the knife, but never returned to the room. In a chilling move that terrified the other children in the home, Stoutenburgh reportedly refused to drop the knife and warned them she was going to kill them as well. She allegedly told them to grab the car keys and escape. The boy suffered injuries, but thankfully none that were life-threatening. Emergency responders treated him on scene before transporting Stoutenburgh to the emergency room under law enforcement supervision.
Following the traumatic event, Stoutenburgh was taken to the county jail, where she remains held without bond. Authorities formally charged her with attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault. These charges reflect the severity of her actions and the potential danger posed to her children. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, where she will face the legal consequences of the terrifying ordeal she unleashed within her home. While the investigation continues, this case has ignited concern and sorrow throughout the local community. The implications of untreated mental illness, religious delusions, and the safety of children in vulnerable households have once again been cast into stark relief.
