Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The ARTx3 Campus is inviting art lovers and community members to attend the opening reception for the 39th annual Small Works on Paper exhibition, set for Thursday, Jan. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff. The event is free to attend, open to all ages, and will include refreshments and artist talks. Registration is required for the reception.
Showcasing Arkansas Talent in an Intimate Format
Organized and sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council, Small Works on Paper features two-dimensional artworks no larger than 18-by-24 inches, giving visitors an opportunity to see how artists can make a powerful impact in a compact space. The works are created by members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, and this year’s exhibition includes 40 pieces by 40 Arkansas artists.
One of the participating artists is Rashawn Penister of Pine Bluff, whose work is part of this year’s curated collection. All the pieces were selected by Kelli Scott Kelley, a practicing artist and professor of painting at Louisiana State University, who served as juror for the 2024 show.
The exhibition will be on view from Jan. 5 to Jan. 22 in the William H. Kennedy Jr. Gallery at the ASC. Following its Pine Bluff debut, the collection will travel to 10 venues across the state throughout the year, offering multiple communities the chance to engage with Arkansas’s creative voices.
