ARTx3 Campus to host hands-on sewing workshop late this May

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – People looking to improve their sewing abilities and create a handmade project will soon have the chance to take part in a special workshop at the ARTx3 Campus in Pine Bluff.

The one-day event, called Sewing Made Simple, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at The ARTSpace on Main located at 623 South Main Street.

Organizers say the workshop is aimed at confident beginners who already understand the basics of sewing and want to strengthen their skills through hands-on instruction. Participants are asked to bring their own sewing machines as they spend the day learning new techniques and creating a custom handcrafted bag.

Instructor Renee Davis will guide attendees through sewing methods focused on stitching, construction, and finishing details. Officials said the workshop is designed to help participants build confidence while also improving precision and overall sewing ability.

Workshop Focuses on Creativity and Skill Building

According to organizers, the class will provide a supportive environment where attendees can practice sewing techniques while working on a project they can take home and use.

“Ready to build your sewing skills and create something beautiful?” organizers said while promoting the event. “This one-day workshop is designed for confident beginners who already know the basics and are ready to grow their skills.”

The workshop is open to individuals ages 16 and older. Pricing varies depending on membership and student status. Admission costs $45 for ARTx3 members, $55 for nonmembers, and $30 for students.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 26. Community members interested in participating can register online through the ARTx3 website or contact organizers directly by phone.

The event is sponsored by McFarland Eye Care. Additional information is available through Bethany Gere, theater and programs coordinator for ARTx3.

Organizers say participants will leave the workshop not only with a finished custom bag, but also with stronger sewing abilities and greater confidence in their creative skills.
