Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The ARTx3 Campus is inviting families to a free movie screening that combines entertainment with opportunities to learn about science, teamwork and the work performed by firefighters.
The campus will show the animated film “Planes, Fire and Rescue” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 10. The screening will take place at the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater at ART WORKS on Main, located at 627 S. Main St.
While there is no cost to attend, registration is required. Families can register for both the movie screening and the Saturday Family FunDay event scheduled to follow it.
Animated adventure combines learning and entertainment
“Planes: Fire & Rescue” follows Dusty Crophopper, a crop dusting plane whose life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that he can no longer continue racing.
Dusty begins learning new skills and joins a group of courageous aerial firefighters. Together, they work to protect a national park threatened by wildfires.
Beyond its adventure story, the film explores several themes that can be useful for young viewers, including courage, teamwork and problem solving. It also draws attention to the important work performed by firefighters.
The movie can serve as a starting point for families to explore several science related subjects. These include how fire behaves, the role of weather, ecosystems and ways people can help protect the environment.
The screening is sponsored by the Simmons First Foundation.
Anyone seeking additional information about the event can contact Stephanie Johnson-Carlton, STEAM education director, by email at [email protected] or by calling 870-536-3375.
Although admission is free, families interested in attending should complete the required registration for the film screening and the Saturday Family FunDay that follows.
