Cabot, Arkansas – Drivers traveling through Cabot, Arkansas, should prepare for temporary overnight closures along Interstate 57 as construction crews continue work on the overpass at the Highway 5 interchange.
According to the announcement, southbound I-57 will close nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Sunday, November 1, and continuing through Thursday, November 5, weather permitting.
The closures are necessary to allow construction workers to install bridge girders on the I-57 overpass.
Only one direction of the interstate will be closed at a time during the scheduled construction work.
Detours and traffic control measures planned
Motorists traveling through the affected area will be directed along a marked detour using the Exit 16 entrance and exit ramps.
Traffic control measures will include flaggers, drums, barricades and signs to help drivers navigate the construction zone safely.
Officials are encouraging motorists to remain alert, follow posted instructions and exercise additional caution when approaching the interchange.
Because the work depends on suitable weather conditions, the construction schedule could be affected by unfavorable weather.
Drivers traveling through Cabot during the overnight hours should plan for possible delays and pay close attention to the temporary traffic arrangements while crews install the new bridge girders.
