Little Rock, Arkansas – A man wanted on multiple warrants was fatally shot by deputies in Arkansas after a tense standoff on Monday evening. The incident, involving Curtis Lindsey, escalated quickly, leading to a fatal confrontation between him and members of the White County Sheriff’s Office.
The situation began around 9:45 p.m. when deputies attempted to stop Lindsey’s vehicle. Instead of complying, Lindsey sped away, leading authorities on a chase that ended near Tweedy and Shiloh Road. After abandoning his vehicle, Lindsey fled on foot, prompting a pursuit.
According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, during the foot chase, Lindsey drew a revolver and threatened to kill the pursuing deputy. This led to a heightened sense of danger, with the deputy momentarily losing sight of Lindsey.
In response, the Sheriff’s Office deployed two K-9 units, which tracked Lindsey to a residence on Tweedy Road. The Special Response Team was activated, and for about 30 minutes, they used a PA system to appeal to Lindsey to exit the home. When these attempts received no response, the officers resorted to using chemical irritants to coax him out, but again, there was no response from inside the house.
The situation escalated when deputies tried to breach the front door, which they found blocked by a refrigerator. It was at this point that Lindsey approached the door, verbally threatening the deputies and aiming a pistol at them. In response, he was fatally shot by the deputies.
Lindsey was known to have outstanding warrants in multiple counties, including Beebe, Kensett, Nevada County, Van Buren County, and White County. Following the incident, the deputies involved were placed on administrative leave. This standard procedure is part of the ongoing investigation led by the Arkansas State Police into the shooting death of Lindsey.
