Arts and Science Center to host women’s self defense class teaching practical safety techniques and awareness skills

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – In an effort to promote confidence, awareness, and personal safety, a special women’s self-defense class will soon be offered in Pine Bluff, giving participants the chance to learn valuable skills in a supportive environment.

The class will take place on Saturday, March 21, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater inside The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC), located at 701 S. Main Street. Organizers say the workshop is open to individuals of all experience levels, making it accessible for beginners and those looking to strengthen their skills.

Building Confidence and Personal Safety Skills

The session will be led by Florence “FloEssence” Love, who will guide participants through a range of techniques designed to improve personal safety and self-awareness.

The class is described as an opportunity to build confidence and personal safety” while learning practical strategies that can be applied in everyday situations. Participants will be introduced to essential self-defense methods, as well as awareness skills and ways to set personal boundaries.

Organizers emphasize that the class is meant to be welcoming and encouraging, allowing attendees to feel comfortable while learning. As described in the event details, the class introduces practical self-defense techniques, awareness skills, and boundary-setting strategies in a safe, encouraging space.”

The workshop is open to participants ages 12 and older, and no previous training is required, making it an ideal opportunity for those who are new to self-defense.

The cost to attend is $15 for members of the Arts & Science Center and $20 for nonmembers. Those interested are encouraged to register by Tuesday, March 17, either online at the event webpage or by calling 870-536-3375.
