Pine Bluff, Arkansas – A new initiative aims to spark creativity and environmental consciousness among students. The Delta Upcycle Challenge (D.U.C.), hosted by the ARTx3 Campus, aims to highlight the impact humans have on the environment and explore innovative ways to reduce this impact through artistic expression. This unique project encourages students to think creatively about sustainability and collaborate on crafting a more beautiful future.
The D.U.C. Project comprises two distinct competitions designed to foster a blend of environmental consciousness and artistic talent. High school students are invited to participate in an upcycled mini-sculpture contest, while those enrolled in colleges, universities, or trade schools can showcase their talent in an upcycled fashion show. This initiative is open to students from Arkansas, Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Grant, Jefferson, Lee, Lincoln, Monroe, Phillips and Prairie counties.
The culmination of this eco-friendly artistic endeavor will be an in-person event at the ARTx3 Campus on April 13, where the top 20 entries from both competitions will be displayed. A panel of judges will assess the entries based on creativity, use of upcycled materials, and the message conveyed about environmental sustainability.
Interested students must register by 5 p.m. on February 23, with the final submission deadline set for 5 p.m. on March 29. For more information on how to participate in the Delta Upcycle Challenge, visit the project’s website at artx3.org.
