ARTx3 presents a powerful reimagining of Prometheus Bound in Pine Bluff

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – A compelling theatrical production will take center stage in Pine Bluff as ARTx3 Campus presents Prometheus Bound, a modern interpretation that reflects on the social injustices faced by Black men in America. The show will run from March 13 to March 16 at the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater at ART WORKS on Main, located at 627 S. Main St.

This bold adaptation aims to shed light on themes of courage, resilience, and systemic inequities that continue to impact Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.

A Timeless Story Reimagined

Prometheus Bound, written by Aeschylus and translated by Bryan Doerries, tells the story of Prometheus, who is punished by the gods for giving humanity the gift of fire. However, in this poignant retelling, the myth becomes an allegory for the struggles and injustices that Black men in America endure.

This adaptation is directed by J. Tyler, with Portia S. Jones as the assistant director. The cast features:

  • K.C. Rowland as Prometheus
  • Briar Thompson as Kratos
  • Grace Swygert as IO
  • Emily Jackson as Oceanus
  • Braden Royal as Hermes
  • Anthony Royal as Hephaestas
  • Raymond Wallace and M. Debra Hester as swings

Through this powerful narrative, the production aims to challenge perceptions, spark conversations, and honor the resilience of historically marginalized communities.
