Victoria, Arkansas – Motorists traveling through the Victoria area should prepare for travel delays, as a stretch of Highway 119 is set to close around the clock from 8 a.m. on Monday, September 29, through noon on Friday, October 10. The closure is needed to allow crews to replace a bridge structure located between Highway 158 and Highway 140.
While through traffic will not be allowed, Highway 119 will remain open to local traffic only on both sides of the construction zone. This means local residents will still have access to their homes and nearby properties.
A signed detour will guide travelers safely around the closed area. Southbound traffic will be directed to take Highway 119 north to Highway 158 east, then connect to Interstate 55 south, and travel along Highway 140 east back to Highway 119. For northbound traffic, drivers should take Highway 119 south to Highway 140 west, proceed to Interstate 55 north, and take Highway 158 west to return to Highway 119.
Throughout the closure, traffic will be managed with barricades, barrels, and signage to ensure safety for drivers and construction crews. Officials advise motorists to follow all posted detours and use caution when driving near the work zone. The project is expected to improve the condition and safety of the bridge for years to come.
