Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Pine Bluff Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred late Saturday night on South Hazel Street, leaving one driver dead and another in critical condition.
According to authorities, officers responded to the scene at approximately 11:01 p.m. on April 12, 2025. The crash happened near the intersection of South Hazel Street and 41st Avenue.
Initial findings indicate that 37-year-old Matthew Williams was driving a white Nissan Altima heading southbound on South Hazel Street. Meanwhile, 38-year-old Darrion William was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra traveling northbound on the same roadway. For reasons that are still under investigation, the two vehicles collided head-on.
The impact of the crash was severe enough to eject Darrion William from his vehicle. He was transported by emergency responders to Jefferson Regional Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
Unfortunately, Matthew Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher. Police confirmed that both families have been notified.
