Fourth teenager arrested in connection with July shooting in Pine Bluff

Two arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into county jail

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – In the most recent development concerning the tragic shooting incident that took place in July, Pine Bluff police have made another arrest. On Monday, authorities arrested a fourth teenager, strengthening their grip on the case that shook the local community.

17-year-old Marsean Jones was arrested at Watson Chapel High School. “Jones is facing charges including capital murder, first-degree battery, being a minor in possession of a firearm and engaging in a violent criminal group activity,” according to officials from the Pine Bluff Police Department.

The arrest stems from the harrowing events of July 15. “PBPD officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area near the 3600 block of East Lake Drive in the early morning hours,” the department said. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a devastating scene: 16-year-old Damien Pierson lay unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, Pierson was later pronounced dead at the location by the Jefferson County coroner. The violence did not stop with Pierson; another teenager was injured during the incident and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.

The investigation led to the arrest of three other teens earlier. Ta’Couri McKinzie, Cylon Bead, and Morgan Leon have all been apprehended and will face their charges as adults in relation to Pierson’s death.

As the case continues to unfold, Jones remains in custody at the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Center. The Pine Bluff community and its residents are grappling with the aftermath of such a violent incident involving young individuals. As the legal system proceeds, many hope for justice and answers.
