Governor Sanders approves additional funding to support Arkansas communities after February storms and flooding

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls special election to fill Arkansas Senate District 1 seat after Ben Gilmore resignation

Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has issued Executive Order 24-22, amending Proclamation DR 23-03 to provide financial support for communities affected by severe storms and flooding in Arkansas. This funding aims to assist the recovery efforts following the significant weather events that began on February 8, 2023.

Addressing the Aftermath of Severe Storms

The storms caused widespread damage and hardship across the state, creating challenges for citizens and public properties alike. As Governor Sanders stated, the affected political subdivisions require additional assistance from the state to recover from the losses incurred. This executive action follows Proclamation DR 23-03, which was originally signed on March 14, 2023, in response to the disaster.

Funding to Support Recovery Efforts

Through the amended order, Governor Sanders has authorized the allocation of $32,012.68 from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund under the Public Assistance Program. These funds are intended to cover both program and administrative costs related to the recovery efforts.

The funds will be managed by the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management and used at the discretion of its Director to support initiatives that help communities rebuild and recover.

A Commitment to Supporting Arkansas Communities

Governor Sanders’ action highlights her administration’s commitment to aiding those impacted by natural disasters. By providing this supplemental assistance, the state ensures that affected communities receive the resources necessary to restore stability and address the damage caused by the severe weather.

This funding allocation serves as a vital step in helping Arkansas communities recover and demonstrates the state’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced during natural disasters.
