Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders approves emergency funding to support storm recovery in Arkansas

Arkansas grants income tax relief to farmers receiving USDA disaster assistance

Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has taken executive action to provide financial relief for Arkansas communities affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that began on March 14, 2024. In response to the extensive damage and hardships endured by residents and public properties, the governor has amended a previous disaster proclamation to authorize additional funding for recovery efforts.

Through Executive Order 25-04, Governor Sanders has amended Proclamation DR 24-03, originally issued on May 6, 2024, to allocate $19,388.57 from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund. This funding, authorized under Arkansas law, will be distributed through the Public Assistance Program to support storm recovery operations.

State Steps in to Aid Local Communities

The additional funding aims to help local governments and agencies address the damages caused by the severe weather events. The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management will oversee the allocation of funds, ensuring that both program-related and administrative costs associated with the recovery process are covered.

Governor Sanders emphasized the necessity of state assistance in alleviating the financial burden on affected communities. The authorized funds will provide vital support for cleanup, infrastructure repairs, and other essential recovery efforts.

This executive action highlights the state’s commitment to assisting Arkansas communities in rebuilding after natural disasters. By mobilizing resources from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, officials aim to expedite the recovery process and restore stability for those impacted by the storms.

The funding was officially approved on March 13, 2025, underscoring the state’s ongoing efforts to respond to emergencies and provide essential aid to its citizens.
