High schoolers invited to apply for North Little Rock program focused on leadership and service

North Little Rock, Arkansas – Teens across the metro area who are eager to give back, grow as leaders, and connect with their communities are encouraged to apply for the North Little Rock Mayor’s Youth Council. This service-learning program is now accepting applications and is open to all students in grades 9 through 12.

The Mayor’s Youth Council is a hands-on opportunity for young people to contribute to meaningful projects throughout the city. Members will have the chance to volunteer with nonprofits, support school initiatives, help at city events, and work alongside local organizations.

The Council not only gives students a platform to make a real impact, but also helps them develop valuable leadership skills and build strong community connections. “A unique opportunity to develop leadership skills – Connect with your community – Make a meaningful impact through various volunteer efforts,” the program promises.

To maintain active membership, students are expected to attend at least one of the two monthly meetings and commit to completing four hours of public service each month. The flexibility of two meeting dates each month allows students to pick the one that best fits their schedule.

The kickoff event for the 2025 cycle will be held on Saturday, September 6th from 10 AM to 1 PM at the First United Methodist Church on JFK. The event will feature Errin Stanger, CEO and founder of Providence Park Homes, as a special guest speaker. She will introduce attendees to Providence Park, a new nonprofit dedicated to helping unhoused individuals through compassionate, community-focused efforts.

Applications can be requested via email at [email protected], and further information is available by contacting Jill Mills at 501.804.8950.
