Swifton, Arkansas – Starting Monday, October 28, Highway 226 will close between Highway 367 and Highway 67 near Swifton for continuous work through Thursday, October 31. The closure, scheduled to last from 7 a.m. on Monday until 7 p.m. on Thursday, will allow crews to replace a pipe culvert.
Detour Routes in Place
To help travelers navigate around the closure, signed detour routes will be provided. Motorists can follow the detour by taking Highway 367 south to Highway 37 south, and then proceeding north along Highway 67. While the main section of Highway 226 will remain closed, both ends of the highway adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible for local traffic only.
Message boards, barricades, and signs will be used to notify the public of the closure and direct them toward detour routes. ARDOT encourages travelers to remain alert to these notifications and plan their routes accordingly.
Stay Informed with ARDOT
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) advises motorists to stay updated on road conditions by visiting IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. The work schedule is weather-dependent, and changes may occur if inclement weather delays progress.
This project aims to improve infrastructure in the area, ensuring safer travel along Highway 226 once the culvert replacement is completed. Travelers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through nearby areas and to allow extra time for detours.
