Hot Springs man receives lengthy federal prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine

Hot Springs, Arkansas – A Hot Springs man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in federal prison after investigators discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine at his residence during a drug investigation.

LaMont Green, 55, was sentenced on October 1, 2026, for possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. In addition to his federal prison sentence, Green will be required to serve five years of supervised release after leaving prison.

U.S. District Judge John Thomas Shepherd presided over the sentencing proceedings in the United States District Court in Hot Springs. United States Attorney Kevin R. Holmes announced the sentence.

Green had previously admitted to the federal drug offense, entering a guilty plea on February 18, 2026.

Investigation began after information about suspected drug distribution

According to court records, investigators received information in June 2025 indicating that Green was distributing methamphetamine in the Hot Springs area.

Authorities conducted a records check and learned that Green was on parole through the Arkansas Department of Correction because of an earlier felony conviction.

As the investigation continued, authorities searched Green’s residence. Investigators reported finding approximately 2.1 kilograms of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.

They also discovered digital scales and other items that authorities said are commonly connected with the distribution of illegal drugs.

The suspected drugs were sent to a Drug Enforcement Administration laboratory for further examination. Laboratory testing confirmed that the seized material contained 1.4 kilograms of pure methamphetamine.

Green eventually pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, leading to his October sentencing.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Hot Springs Police Department conducted the investigation that resulted in the federal case against Green.

The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 18th East Judicial District also provided assistance during the investigation and prosecution.

Assistant United States Attorney Bryan A. Achorn prosecuted the case on behalf of the federal government.

Following his guilty plea and sentencing, Green will now serve more than 14 years in federal prison. Once that term is completed, he will remain under federal supervision for another five years.
