Investigation underway in Pine Bluff following suspicious shooting incident

Pine Bluff sees major decline in overall crime as police release latest public safety statistics for spring 2026

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Authorities in Pine Bluff are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old man who was found with a fatal gunshot wound late Tuesday night. The Pine Bluff Police Department initially responded to reports of a self-inflicted shooting near 6401 W. Jones. However, detectives are now treating the case as a potential homicide as the investigation unfolds.

Details of the Incident

Just before midnight on January 21, 2025, officers arrived at the scene and discovered Patrick Coleman Jr. lying in the street in the 6400 block of W. Jones. Coleman was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on-site.

According to initial reports, several individuals were with Coleman at the time of the incident. However, they had left the area before police arrived. Law enforcement officers have since located and questioned some of those who were present, and efforts to gather additional information are ongoing.
