Investigation underway into Conway officer-involved shooting

Police chase ends with arrest of two involved in self-checkout fraud at Walmart

Conway, Arkansas – A recent incident in Conway has prompted an investigation by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) after a man was fatally shot by a Conway Police Department (CPD) officer. The shooting occurred on Monday morning while law enforcement officers were attempting to serve a search warrant.

The incident unfolded around 9:15 a.m. in the 3700 block of Highway 64 West. Officers from the CPD and deputies from the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office were involved in serving the warrant. The situation escalated when the homeowner, 78-year-old Allen Seibert, approached the door holding a gun. This action led to one of the officers at the scene discharging their firearm, resulting in Seibert being shot.

Following the shooting, Seibert was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. To further investigate the circumstances of his death, Seibert’s body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. The laboratory will conduct analyses to determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The ASP has taken the lead in investigating this critical incident. Their agents are tasked with developing a comprehensive case file on the shooting, which will be presented to the prosecuting attorney. This report will play a crucial role in determining whether the use of force by the CPD officer was consistent with Arkansas law.

As per standard department policy, the CPD has placed the officer involved in the shooting on paid administrative leave. This is a routine procedure in such cases, allowing for a thorough and unbiased investigation. The identity of the officer involved has not been disclosed at this time.

This incident has raised several questions and concerns, which the ongoing investigation aims to address. The outcome of this investigation will be crucial in understanding the events that led to this tragic outcome and in evaluating the law enforcement response to the situation.
