Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department disclosed the confiscation of more than 2 pounds of cocaine last Friday, an outcome of the collaboration of various law enforcement bodies.
Just before midday, officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office intercepted a suspicious package. The contents, an off-white substance, tested positive for cocaine during a field examination.
Subsequent to the intercept, law enforcement authorities carried out a strategically coordinated reverse delivery operation, leading to the apprehension of at least one individual. The apprehended suspect is currently detained, awaiting charges of possessing a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, a Class Y Felony under Arkansas law.
This operation was executed as a cooperative effort of the Tri-County Drug Task Force, along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Arkansas State Police, and the Pine Bluff Vice & Narcotics.
Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. lauded the collective efforts of the involved agencies, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to impede drug trafficking operations.
Woods stated, “This successful seizure of one kilo of cocaine highlights the power of collaboration and the unwavering dedication of the law enforcement agencies involved. We are committed to investigating, disrupting, and dismantling drug traffickers who operate within our jurisdiction.”
The seized cocaine is valued at approximately $100,000 in the street market, according to the authorities. As per Arkansas law, if convicted, the suspect could face a minimum sentence of 10 years, up to a maximum of 40 years, or even life imprisonment.
