Little Rock drivers advised of overnight traffic restrictions at I-440 and I-530 interchange beginning Monday

Little Rock drivers advised of overnight traffic restrictions at I-440 and I-530 interchange beginning Monday

Little Rock, Arkansas – Drivers traveling through Little Rock should prepare for several nights of traffic restrictions as crews carry out bridge deck repairs near the Interstate 440 and Interstate 530 interchange.

The eastbound right lane of I-440 at the I-530 interchange is scheduled to close overnight beginning Monday, August 17. The restriction will be in place from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night through Friday morning, August 21.

During the same overnight hours, another closure will affect drivers approaching the area from Interstate 30. The I-30 westbound Exit 138 ramp leading to I-440 eastbound will also be closed.

The work and resulting traffic restrictions are dependent on weather conditions.

Detour planned for I-30 westbound traffic

A signed detour will be established to help motorists who are traveling westbound on I-30 and need to reach eastbound I-440 while the ramp is closed.

Those drivers will be directed onto I-530 southbound. From there, motorists should take Exit 3 before returning to I-530 northbound. Drivers can then use Exit 1A to access I-440 eastbound and continue their trips.

Transportation officials will place several traffic control measures around the construction area to alert motorists to the nighttime changes.

Digital message boards will provide information about the closures, while construction barrels, barricades and additional signs will guide traffic through and around the affected area.

Motorists traveling near the interchange during the overnight work periods should watch carefully for signs, follow the posted detour and allow additional time to reach their destinations while the bridge deck repairs are underway.
