Little Rock, Arkansas – Residents and commuters in Little Rock and North Little Rock should be prepared for a series of lane closures and detours during the week of Monday, August 19, due to ongoing construction work on Interstate 30 (I-30). The construction will affect various roadways with both daytime and overnight closures, potentially impacting travel times.
Daytime Lane Closures
During the day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., several key roads will experience single-lane closures. Specifically:
- The southbound I-30 frontage road will have a single lane closed between 6th and 10th Streets in Little Rock.
- On Cypress Street, the southbound lane will be closed between 5th and Broadway Streets in North Little Rock.
- Riverfront Drive will see single-lane closures between Olive and Pine Streets in North Little Rock.
- Broadway Street will also face single-lane closures between Magnolia and Pine Streets in North Little Rock.
- Locust Street northbound will have a single-lane closure between Broadway and 5th Streets in North Little Rock.
Overnight Lane Closures
From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., overnight lane closures will be in effect, including:
- I-30 will experience single and double-lane closures and traffic shifts between Roosevelt Road in Little Rock and Interstate 40 (I-40) in North Little Rock.
- The interchange area of I-30/I-40 in North Little Rock will see both single and double-lane closures along with ramp closures.
- The eastbound ramp from I-630 to I-30 will be fully closed, as will the I-630 eastbound ramp to the I-30 northbound frontage road. Detours will be clearly signed; refer to detour map NR 24-218-A for details.
- A full closure will occur on the northbound I-30 frontage road between the I-30 off-ramp (Exit 140) and 6th Street in Little Rock.
- The southbound I-30 frontage road on-ramp to I-30 westbound will also be fully closed near Interstate 30 in Little Rock, with detours provided.
- Cypress Street, Riverfront Drive, Broadway Street, and Locust Street will continue to have single-lane closures during the overnight period as well.
24-Hour Closure
Additionally, President Clinton Avenue will be fully closed between Mahlon Martin and Sherman Streets in Little Rock for the duration of the week. Detours will be signed to guide drivers around this closure.
Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and exercise extra caution when navigating through these work zones. Traffic control will be managed by construction barrels and signage to help ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
