Mother told her daughter to be quiet before she forcibly put and held the girl’s head underwater until she started bubbling, killing her, only because the child refused to leave her in peace

Tennessee – In a disturbing case in Tennessee, a woman has been accused of the first-degree murder of her 7-year-old daughter. The 33-year-old mother, identified as B. Elliot, drowned her daughter in a narrow waterway because the child refused to leave her in peace after having a bad day.

On the evening of July 13, authorities received a report of a drowning. Despite swift response and emergency efforts, the young girl pronounced dead at a local hospital around 11:45 p.m. Law enforcement initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning and started interviewing the mother.

According to the police, upon being transported to the station and after being read her Miranda rights, Elliot confessed to the deliberate drowning of her daughter. The confession revealed a disturbing sequence of events leading to the fatal incident. Elliot told detectives that the day had been particularly challenging, and she sought to spend some time in peace and alone. However, her attempts were interrupted by her daughter, who came outside to join her mother and refused to stay alone in the apartment. In a desperate bid for alone time, Elliot took her daughter across the street to a greenway for a walk. It was there that the situation escalated tragically.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Elliot described the drowning in chilling detail, stating she told her daughter to be quiet before she dunked and held her daughter’s head under the water  until she felt the girl “bubbling.” Despite realizing her grievous error and attempting to resuscitate her daughter, it was too late. The community has been left in shock by the incident, with many struggling to comprehend the actions of a woman they thought they knew well. A long-time friend and colleague of Elliot expressed her disbelief to the media, highlighting the normalcy of Elliot’s interactions earlier that day, including a visit to the girl’s father in the hospital.

Elliot remains in custody in jail, awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for the end of the week. She faces severe legal repercussions, with charges including first-degree murder that could lead to significant prison time if convicted. This tragic case has cast a spotlight on the importance of mental health and the dire consequences that can arise when individuals do not receive the support they need. The community and the family are left mourning the loss of a young life and grappling with the disturbing nature of the events leading up to it.
