Multi-convicted felon receives 18-year sentence for fentanyl distribution in Arkansas

West Memphis man with long criminal record sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for meth distribution

Little Rock, Arkansas – Edmond Quatrell Blue, a known multi-convicted felon from Little Rock, has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for his involvement with the dangerous drug fentanyl. The sentencing occurred under the jurisdiction of United States District Judge D.P. Marshall, Jr. in the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Blue, aged 33, faced charges for possession with intent to distribute a significant amount of fentanyl, over a kilogram, which led to his recent conviction. Following his incarceration, he will undergo five years of supervised release, a mandate issued during his sentencing. It is important to note that there is no possibility of parole in the federal system.

The conviction came after Blue pleaded guilty on July 29, 2024, following his indictment on April 5, 2023. The guilty plea pertained to a single-count indictment for the mentioned charges. This plea marks yet another significant chapter in Blue’s extensive criminal background related to drug offenses and other felonies.

Detailed Account of the Arrest

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) meticulously orchestrated the arrest after conducting surveillance operations. These operations revealed Blue’s movements around an apartment complex on Napa Valley Drive in Little Rock. On June 10, 2022, agents watched as Blue engaged in suspicious activity, including the transfer of what appeared to be drugs from a Mazda vehicle to an unknown apartment, hidden within a McDonald’s bag.

Later, Blue’s actions continued to draw attention when he was seen transferring a purple duffle bag from an apartment to a black Ford F-250. This sequence of events led to a traffic stop by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) and a dramatic foot chase during which Blue was observed discarding the duffle bag into a construction dumpster while attempting to flee. A DEA Task Force Officer (TFO) retrieved the bag, confirming it contained approximately 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl.

Blue was eventually apprehended while hiding in a vacant apartment. His arrest was the culmination of a coordinated effort involving the DEA, ASP, and the Little Rock Police Department.

Prior Criminal Record

Blue’s extensive criminal history features a range of felonies, including multiple drug-related offenses and illegal possession of a firearm. His past convictions include possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, numerous charges related to possession of drug paraphernalia, and distribution of heroin.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Crews. The sentencing of Edmond Quatrell Blue highlights the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking activities, particularly those involving potent substances like fentanyl that pose significant risks to public health and safety.
