North Little Rock enhances animal welfare services with expanded and renovated shelter

North Little Rock, Arkansas – The North Little Rock Animal Shelter is set to unveil its newly expanded and renovated facility with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at 1 Championship Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118. The community is invited to attend and witness the improvements made to better serve both the animals and residents of the city.

A Commitment to Animal Welfare and Public Safety

North Little Rock Animal Services operates as a dual-function department, encompassing both Animal Control and the Animal Shelter. Their mission is to ensure the health and safety of the city’s residents while providing compassionate care for abandoned and stray animals. By responding to an average of 500 service calls each month, the team plays a crucial role in handling potentially dangerous animal encounters, rescuing pets, and enforcing city ordinances related to animal welfare.

The shelter takes pride in its efforts to reduce the number of stray and unwanted animals through intensive spay and neuter programs, alongside strict enforcement of North Little Rock’s animal regulations. Each year, the shelter successfully adopts out an average of 600 pets, helping them find loving homes both locally and across the country through partnerships with adoption agencies and rescue organizations.

Enhancements to Better Serve the Community

The recent expansion and renovation of the shelter aim to improve the facility’s ability to house and care for animals in need. These upgrades will provide a more comfortable environment for the animals and allow staff to operate with greater efficiency. By enhancing the shelter’s capabilities, North Little Rock Animal Services reaffirms its dedication to creating a city free of feral and neglected animals, ensuring that every pet has a chance for a better life.

Residents are encouraged to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, tour the updated shelter, and learn more about how they can support the organization’s mission. Whether through adopting, fostering, donating, or volunteering, community involvement is key to making a lasting impact on animal welfare in North Little Rock.
