North Little Rock sets the stage for National Night Out with community-driven activities

North Little Rock, Arkansas – North Little Rock is gearing up for this year’s National Night Out on the first Tuesday of October, continuing its tradition of fostering community safety through police-community partnerships. This nationwide event is not just a festivity but a powerful movement towards enhancing the safety and quality of life in neighborhoods.

Engaging Activities Across Four Wards

The city has announced a lineup of events spread across its four wards, each uniquely designed to strengthen community bonds and promote public safety awareness. These gatherings will feature an array of activities, from live music and games to community engagements, all aimed at promoting a safer and more connected community.

Ward 1 Highlights

Ward 1’s events are set to create vibrant community interactions with activities scheduled across various locations:

  • Military Heights Outreach Association will host their gathering from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Military Heights Neighborhood Park. For participation, contact Karen Alford at 501-681-5233 or Lorraine Chism-Knox at 501-519-5957.
  • Friends of Chandler Street promises a night of BBQ, music, and fellowship from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at 15th & Chandler, reachable through Ray Smith at 501-502-3505.
  • The Historic Park Hill Neighborhood Association invites locals to a casual get-together with hot dogs, music, a bonfire, and National Night Out merchandise from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Idlewild Park. Wendy Gregan can be contacted at 501-772-8086 for more details.

Ward 2 Activities

Ward 2 continues the theme with several associations hosting events:

  • Baring Cross Neighborhood Association will include fun and food from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at 13th and Crutcher Streets, contact Harlan Hunter at 501-541-1591.
  • Argenta Boosters/Melrose Community Outreach plans an evening of food and entertainment from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Baker House, 501 Main Street. John Pflasterer is the contact person at 501-553-8671.
  • Rose City Neighborhood Association & NLR Police Athletic League will entertain families with free food and events for children at Rose City Ball Park from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., contact Martha Capps at 501-580-1079.

Additional Ward Activities

The events extend into Wards 3 and 4 with multiple associations like the Scenic Hill Neighborhood Association and Windsor Valley Neighborhood planning cookouts, live music, and engaging activities for all age groups.
