Permanent traffic change scheduled for South Futrall Drive in Fayetteville

Permanent traffic change scheduled for South Futrall Drive in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, Arkansas – Drivers in Fayetteville should prepare for a permanent change in traffic patterns on South Futrall Drive beginning Tuesday, April 29, at 8 a.m., weather permitting. The modification will occur just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (MLK Blvd.) and is part of ongoing work on the new MLK Blvd. Interchange project.

This change is being made to support the construction of a new traffic lane. Once completed, the new lane will allow motorists to travel from South Futrall Drive to South Shiloh Drive, located south of MLK Blvd., without having to pass through any signalized intersections. The goal is to improve traffic flow and reduce delays in the area.

Several route adjustments will go into effect with this change. Westbound MLK Blvd. traffic will no longer be able to turn left onto South Futrall Drive. Eastbound MLK Blvd. traffic will also no longer be able to turn right onto South Futrall Drive. In addition, South Futrall Drive will be permanently striped and signed for northbound traffic only, south of MLK Blvd.

Officials confirmed that “the current configuration of the northbound off-ramp at MLK Blvd. will remain in place,” meaning there will be no changes to how drivers exit from the northbound lanes.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and stay updated on traffic changes. Additional travel information and updates are available at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.
