Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff Police Department has announced a special distracted driving enforcement campaign scheduled to begin Sunday, November 8, 2026, as officers prepare to increase their efforts to identify dangerous driving behaviors across the city.
The 14 day operation will continue through November 21, with police focusing on motorists who use their phones illegally or engage in other activities that put people on the road at risk.
The campaign, promoted under the message PUT THE PHONE AWAY OR PAY!, aims to reduce preventable traffic dangers and protect drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
Officers to target texting and unlawful social media use while driving
During the enforcement period, Pine Bluff officers will pay particular attention to drivers who text behind the wheel or unlawfully access social media while operating their vehicles.
Police will also address other traffic violations observed during the operation.
The department is reminding motorists to keep their attention on the road and avoid using their phones while driving.
Drivers who need to read or respond to messages are encouraged to pull over safely before doing so.
Officials are emphasizing that even a brief distraction can create dangerous situations, particularly when drivers take their eyes away from traffic.
The department’s campaign also carries a serious warning about the possible consequences of distracted driving: “ONE TEXT. ONE DISTRACTION. ONE LIFE LOST.”
The Pine Bluff Police Department is urging all motorists to follow traffic laws and make responsible decisions behind the wheel throughout the enforcement campaign and beyond.
