Pine Bluff, Arkansas – A man accused of multiple acts of domestic abuse is now in custody after nearly a week-long search by the Pine Bluff Police Department.
Arrest of Sylvester Brown
Sylvester Brown, 48, was apprehended Monday afternoon following an extensive search that began on July 3. Brown faced accusations of first-degree domestic battery and other felony charges. According to officials, Brown had been squatting in abandoned houses, complicating the efforts to locate him. However, the search concluded successfully thanks to numerous tips from local residents reporting sightings of Brown.
“Mr. Brown was located and arrested off of one of these citizen tips,” stated the police department. They also expressed gratitude to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and to the public for their continuous support.
Ongoing Investigation
In addition to the charges of first-degree domestic battery, Brown is also expected to face charges of abuse of a corpse. Furthermore, he was wanted on an absconder warrant from parole and probation. Authorities have indicated that further charges may be pending.
The victim, who was pregnant at the time of the incident, remains in intensive care at a local hospital. Investigators continue to monitor her condition closely as the case progresses.
