Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to reports of gunshots in the area of 23rd Avenue and Hazel Street on July 12, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m. Shortly after, a second report came in about a person being shot at 23rd Avenue and Spruce Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male, later identified as 30-year-old Jaelin Scott, lying in the street on Spruce just north of 23rd Avenue. Scott had suffered a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. The Jefferson County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
Suspect Arrested Following Witness Reports
Witnesses at the scene informed officers that Scott had been arguing with another male, identified as Devantre Daniels. During the altercation, Scott was shot, and Daniels fled the scene in his vehicle.
Pine Bluff police officers immediately began searching for Daniels. They located his vehicle at a nearby residence and took him into custody without incident. Daniels was transported to the Detective office for questioning and subsequently booked into the Jefferson County jail on charges of 1st Degree Murder.
