Pine Bluff, Arkansas – In the early hours of August 12, 2024, a tragic shooting incident occurred in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Around 1:00 AM, Officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department, who were attending to an unrelated call, heard gunshots nearby. They immediately began searching the area to locate the source of the gunfire. Shortly after, dispatch reported a shooting, and the officers discovered a male victim lying unresponsive near the southwest corner of The Arbor on Fir Apartments at 3021 S. Fir, close to the intersection of W. 30th and S. Fir. The victim was later identified as 37-year-old Timothy Cannady. Despite efforts to save him, Cannady was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative from the Jefferson County Coroner’s office.
The person responsible for the shooting, 22-year-old Marravius Keshawn Jackson, contacted dispatch and admitted to being the shooter. Jackson informed the dispatcher that he had left the scene but was in his vehicle. The dispatcher advised him that officers were present at the scene, and Jackson subsequently returned to meet with the Pine Bluff officers.
Upon his return, Jackson was taken into custody without incident. The officers also recovered a firearm from his possession. Jackson was transported to the detective office for an interview before being booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Murder, pending further investigation.
