Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff Police Department has released new crime figures covering April through June 2026, showing that overall reported crime declined by more than 15 percent compared with the same three-month period in 2025.
According to the department’s latest statistics, 644 crimes were reported during the second quarter of 2026, compared with 759 crimes recorded during the same months last year. While the overall numbers point to a significant improvement, several categories saw increases that continue to concern law enforcement.
Officials also reported that crimes against persons dropped by 28 percent over the year, reflecting fewer incidents involving violence against individuals overall.
Some crime categories improve while others rise
Despite the overall decline, the number of homicides increased slightly. Between April and June 2025, Pine Bluff recorded five homicides, while six homicides were reported during the same period in 2026.
The number of non-fatal shootings remained unchanged, with 10 cases reported during both years.
There was more encouraging news involving property damage caused by gunfire. The number of buildings struck by gunfire dropped sharply from 10 incidents in 2025 to three this year. Likewise, the number of vehicles hit by gunfire fell from eight to three.
The number of reported rapes stayed the same, with seven cases recorded during both reporting periods.
One category that moved in the opposite direction was robbery, which rose from three reported cases in 2025 to 12 cases during the same months of 2026.
Meanwhile, aggravated assaults showed a noticeable decline, dropping from 98 incidents last year to 78 this year.
Property crimes also produced mixed results. Commercial burglaries decreased from 20 to 17, while residential burglaries saw an even larger improvement, falling from 51 cases to 31.
However, thefts increased from 249 incidents in 2025 to 274 this year. Vehicle thefts, on the other hand, moved lower, declining from 46 to 41.
Thousands of calls for service and domestic violence incidents
The police department remained busy throughout the three-month period, responding to 8,257 calls for service and conducting 2,124 traffic stops between April and June 2026.
Officials said that so far this year, the department has handled a combined 18,708 calls for service and traffic stops.
The report also provided a closer look at domestic violence cases during the same period.
Between April and June, officers responded to 349 domestic violence calls. The largest share involved boyfriend and girlfriend relationships, accounting for 200 calls. Those incidents resulted in 20 arrests and included six cases involving firearms as well as 52 open-handed fights.
The second-largest category involved parent and child disputes, with 69 calls reported. Police also responded to 31 husband and wife incidents, 28 other family-related cases, and 21 brother and sister disputes.
Overall, the Pine Bluff Police Department made 48 arrests connected to domestic violence during the three-month reporting period.
While the latest statistics show meaningful progress in reducing overall crime and several major offense categories, the increase in homicides, robberies, and thefts demonstrates that public safety remains an ongoing priority for law enforcement as they continue working to reduce crime across the city.
