Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Young individuals from Pine Bluff have a unique opportunity this summer to dive into the world of theater through the Theater Pro Camp. Hosted at ART WORKS on Main, located at 627 S. Main St., the camp will run from June 24-28, welcoming participants aged 12 to 17. Under the guidance of skilled instructor Nisheedah Dévré Golden, attendees are set to explore the multifaceted world of theater from 1-4 p.m. daily.
Theater Pro Camp is designed to not just teach acting but to immerse participants in every aspect of theater preparation and performance. This includes a combination of acting, voice, and movement training that aims to develop a well-rounded skill set necessary for theater arts. More than just skill acquisition, the camp emphasizes the power of theater as a transformative space for self-discovery and expression, making it a perfect venue for young teens to explore their creativity and emotional resilience.
Support for this enriching experience comes from the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Division of Arkansas Heritage, which ensures the camp is both accessible and affordable. The registration fee is set at $100 for ARTx3 members and $120 for nonmembers. However, the financial burden is eased by full scholarships made available through a generous grant from the West Foundation and contributions from individual donors.
To make theater accessible to every interested youth, the camp offers these scholarships to ensure no participant is left behind due to financial constraints. Interested families are encouraged to visit the camp’s website at artx3.org/all-events/theater-pro-camp for registration and scholarship application details.
