Police investigating after 18-year-old is injured by gunfire during early morning New Year’s celebration

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating after an 18-year-old woman was shot in the hand during a New Year’s celebration early Thursday morning. The shooting was reported at approximately 1:21 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at an events center located at 2402 E. Harding Avenue.

According to police, the young woman told officers she was attending a family gathering to welcome the new year when the celebration suddenly turned frightening. She said she heard several gunshots ring out inside or near the events center and moments later felt a sharp, stinging pain in her hand. The realization that she had been shot came quickly, sending shock and panic through those nearby.

A relative immediately transported the injured woman to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where she received medical treatment for her wound. Authorities have not released details about the severity of the injury, but confirmed she was taken for care without delay.

At this time, police say no suspect information is available, and it remains unclear who fired the shots or what led up to the gunfire. Investigators are working to piece together what happened during the moments surrounding the shooting and are asking for the public’s help.

Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Pine Bluff Police Department at (870) 541-5300 or the Detective’s Office at (870) 730-2090. Those who wish to remain anonymous can submit tips by calling (870) 730-2106 or by visiting www.pbpd.org.
