Benton, Arkansas – Construction work to expand Interstate 30 (I-30) to six lanes in Saline County will require the temporary closure of the South Street and Highway 67/229 on-ramps to I-30 westbound in Benton. The closures will take place from 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, through 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 12.
Weather permitting, construction crews will alternately close the three on-ramps, starting with the South Street to I-30 west ramp. Signed detours will guide drivers around the closed ramps. The detour routes are as follows:
- South Street to I-30 Westbound Detour: Traffic from South Street accessing I-30 westbound will detour via Highway 229 and take the on-ramp to I-30 west. Detailed directions can be found on detour map NR 24-286-A.
- Highway 67/229 Ramps to I-30 Westbound Detour: Drivers will need to take I-30 east, use Exit 116 (Sevier Street/South Street), and then return to I-30 west. See detour map NR 24-286-B for more information.
To manage traffic, message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place. The public is urged to exercise caution when traveling through the work zone and to expect slower traffic speeds. Nearby areas may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This construction is part of the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s (ARDOT) Connecting Arkansas Program, specifically Job CA0601, which aims to widen 5.5 miles of I-30 to three lanes in each direction from the U.S. Highway 70 interchange (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes enhancements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). For more details, visit ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
