Section of Highway 118 to close for several days to allow Tyronza River bridge repairs

Highway 318 north of Lambrook set for multi day closure as crews prepare major culvert replacement project

Tyronza, Arkansas – A section of Highway 118 north of Tyronza will be temporarily closed for several days as crews perform bridge repairs intended to improve safety and maintain the roadway’s structural condition.

Weather permitting, the closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, Feb. 24, Wednesday, Feb. 25, and Thursday, Feb. 26. The work will allow crews to repair railings on the bridge spanning the Tyronza River.

Closure Details and Detour Routes

During the repair period, Highway 118 will remain open only to local traffic on either side of the closure. Motorists traveling through the area will need to follow a signed detour.

Southbound drivers will be directed to travel west on Highway 118 to Highway 135, continue south to Interstate 555 north, and then return to Highway 118. Northbound drivers will take Interstate 555 south to Highway 135 north and reconnect with Highway 118.

Transportation officials say the temporary detour will allow crews to complete the bridge work safely while maintaining access for local residents.

To help guide motorists, digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and road signage will be placed throughout the area to alert drivers to the closure and detour routes.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and remain cautious when traveling near the work zone. Additional travel updates and roadway information are available at IDriveArkansas.com and ARDOT.gov.

The short-term closure is intended to ensure long-term safety and reliability for motorists using Highway 118 and the bridge over the Tyronza River.
