Section of Highway 167B in El Dorado to close for two days due to sewer system work

Motorists traveling between Memphis and West Memphis advised of overnight lane restrictions on the Interstate 40 bridge

El Dorado, Arkansas – Drivers in El Dorado should prepare for a full road closure on a section of Highway 167B (South West Avenue) as city crews complete a sewer system upgrade. The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced that Highway 167B between West Wesson Street and Highway 82B (West Hillsboro Street) will be closed around the clock starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, December 29, through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, weather permitting.

Full Closure to Allow Sewer Manhole Installation

The closure is necessary to allow the City of El Dorado to install a sewer manhole in the center turn lane of Highway 167B. During this time, the highway will only be open to local traffic on either side of the closed section.

To help drivers navigate around the closure, a signed detour will be in place. Northbound drivers should take Highway 82B (West Hillsboro Street) east to South Washington Avenue, head north to East Cedar Street, and then west back to Highway 167B. For those trying to reach the south side, take West Cedar Street west to South Newton Avenue, then south to Highway 82B, and east back to 167B.

Motorists are advised to watch for construction barrels, barricades, and signage placed throughout the area to warn of the closures. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for travel during this period.

This temporary closure is essential for infrastructure improvements and will help maintain the reliability of El Dorado’s sewer system.
