“She was screaming;” 34-year-old woman described as loving mother died after her 16-year-old daughter shot her several times in their home before fleeing on foot; daughter arrested

Texas – In a shocking incident in Texas, a 16-year-old girl, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, is now facing a murder charge after shooting her own 34-year-old mother, identified as Tiamoya M., multiple times inside their home on a quiet Thursday evening. The 34-year-old Tiamoya was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after police and paramedics responded to the scene. The teenager, whose name has not been released due to her age, was arrested later that night after briefly fleeing on foot. She is currently being held at the juvenile justice center.

The police department received multiple 911 calls just before 8 p.m. on September 5 regarding gunshots. Witnesses reported hearing shouting followed by a burst of gunfire. “She was screaming. She was screaming. And I hear, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” said a neighbor, identified as Gracela M., who was checking her mail when the shots rang out. “It was scary. I just ran. I don’t know if I ran this way or ran this way, but I ran inside and I locked the door. I was so scared because it’s a shooting.”

When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered Tiamoya suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was quickly transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A firearm was recovered at the scene. According to investigators, neighbors identified the shooter as Tiamoya’s teenage daughter, who had fled the home on foot following the shooting. However, as police were still processing the scene, the girl returned to the house and was taken into custody without resistance.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and police are continuing to investigate what led up to the deadly confrontation. Tiamoya’s mother, who was home at the time, told reporters she was shocked by the attack and heard the gunfire herself. She described her daughter as a loving mother who showed no signs of conflict leading up to the tragedy. “She was a good mom,” she said, struggling to understand how her granddaughter could have done something so devastating.

Other neighbors echoed their disbelief as well. Isaul M., who lives nearby, said the home had always been quiet and peaceful. “It’s calm. No problems,” he told local media. “I was in the kitchen when I heard the shots, and we come out and then all the police cars.” Visible bullet holes were later seen on the outside walls of the residence and on nearby homes, underscoring the violence that erupted that evening. The police department has confirmed that the teen suspect has been officially charged with murder. As the investigation continues, local advocates are urging families to seek help when facing domestic tension.

Cecily H., executive director of the Resource and Crisis Center, emphasized the importance of open communication and early intervention. “De-escalation techniques, keep talking to your kids, even if they don’t want to talk to you, just keep going back and back,” she said. Her organization offers counseling and resources for families in crisis and is available to help create safety plans and provide guidance.

Family violence remains a growing concern in Texas. Experts say that cases often escalate without warning, leaving loved ones in shock and communities searching for answers. Tiamoya’s tragic death has left a painful void in the lives of those who knew her. Described as a devoted mother and cherished family member, she leaves behind a grieving family and a neighborhood rattled by the unthinkable — a daughter accused of murdering her own mother inside their home.
