Temporary closure planned for Highway 203 near East Camden due to pipe replacement work

Temporary closure planned for Highway 203 near East Camden due to pipe replacement work

East Camden, Arkansas – Drivers in Calhoun County should prepare for a temporary road closure as crews begin scheduled work on a section of Highway 203 near East Camden.

According to officials, the closure will affect the stretch of Highway 203 between Highway 274 and Highway 205. The shutdown is set to take place from 6:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Monday, April 20. The work is dependent on weather conditions, meaning any delays could occur if conditions are not suitable.

Closure details and detour routes

The temporary closure is needed to allow crews to complete a pipe replacement project, which requires blocking through traffic for safety and efficiency. While the highway will not be fully accessible, it will remain open to local traffic only, allowing nearby residents to still reach their homes and properties.

To help guide drivers around the work zone, officials have set up a clearly marked detour. Northbound drivers will be directed to take Highway 274 east, then travel north on Highway 205 to reconnect with Highway 203. Southbound drivers will follow the opposite route, taking Highway 205 south to Highway 274 west before returning to Highway 203.

Motorists can expect to see construction barrels, barricades, and road signs placed throughout the area to alert drivers of the changes and keep traffic moving safely. Officials are encouraging drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted directions carefully while traveling near the work zone.
