Arkansas – In a heartbreaking incident in Arkansas, a young couple faces severe legal consequences following the death of their 2-year-old son, who suffered fatal heat exhaustion. The tragedy unfolded while the child, along with his siblings, was left unattended in an overheated vehicle, while his parents were in a hospital with the toddler’s older brother after inflicting injuries on the boy that required urgent treatment.
The parents, identified as J. Rollins and D. Rollins, were arrested over the weekend under grim circumstances involving multiple allegations of child neglect and abuse. Authorities charged each parent with capital murder following the death of their toddler, who was found in an overheated car in a hospital parking lot. The incident came to light on Sunday, July 7, when officers responded to concerns at a hospital about a 3-year-old patient showing signs of abuse and neglect requiring urgent medical intervention. Authorities collaborated following the discovery that the parents had four other children whose whereabouts were initially unknown to officers.
Later that day, a distressing discovery was made when hospital security, informed by law enforcement, located four children inside a vehicle in the hospital’s parking lot. The external temperature that day soared to 92 degrees, creating a dangerous environment inside the car. All children were found to be suffering from heat exhaustion and were immediately taken to the hospital for emergency care. Despite rapid medical attention, the youngest of the siblings, the 2-year-old boy, could not overcome his injuries and was pronounced dead the following day. This prompted a homicide investigation by the police, who also executed search warrants and found additional signs of neglect at the Rollins’ residence, including a malnourished dog that was taken into custody by animal services.
