Pine Bluff, Arkansas – August has proven to be a month of great fortune for two Arkansas lottery players, with substantial winnings bringing joy and relief to their lives.
Melva Trask of Pine Bluff recently emerged as one of the lucky winners, claiming a $100,000 prize in the Powerball® drawing on August 14. Melva visited the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on August 28 to collect her winnings. Her winning ticket was purchased at Olive Market & Deli, located at 2202 S. Olive St. in Pine Bluff. The numbers drawn for the winning ticket were 8, 9, 23, 29, and 62, with the Powerball number being 13. The Power Play® multiplier for that draw was 2.
Melva’s winning numbers were far from random; they were a carefully chosen combination of birthdays—her own and her mother’s—that she has been playing consistently for years. She follows a routine of buying one ticket for ten plays and renewing it at the same retailer. “Every number is significant to me,” Melva shared with lottery officials, reflecting her belief in the meaningfulness behind the numbers she selects.
Upon realizing she had won, Melva was instructed to visit the ASL Claim Center in Little Rock. She had matched four out of the five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number, which earned her $50,000. However, because she opted for the Power Play multiplier, her prize was doubled to $100,000. Overwhelmed with joy, Melva first shared the news with her sister, who was thrilled for her. “She is over the moon,” Melva expressed. “She’s so happy for me.” With her newfound winnings, Melva hopes to “breathe easier” and have a financial cushion. “I’ve got a little cushion under me now,” she said, reflecting on her plans for the prize.
A Second Win for Arkansas Lottery Enthusiasts
In addition to Melva’s win, another big lottery prize was claimed in Arkansas. A winning Natural State Jackpot ticket worth $480,000 was sold at Circle K Store #2709968 on Highway 64 W. in Beebe for the August 28 drawing. The numbers that led to this substantial prize were 5, 9, 11, 16, and 20. The winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
Following the recent win, the Natural State Jackpot has been reset to $50,000 for the next drawing, offering another opportunity for Arkansas residents to try their luck.
