Pine Bluff, Arkansas – A 21-year-old male was detained by Pine Bluff police on Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night.
Kavon Bledsoe was detained, according to officials with the Pine Bluff Police Department, in relation to the incident that left two individuals dead and two more hurt.
In addition to two counts of capital murder, two counts of first-degree violence, one crime of terrorist act, and one count of tampering with evidence, Bledsoe has been detained.
Just before 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities, officers responded to complaints of gunfire at the Sunset Village Apartments at 2611 West 34th Street.
Police said that when they arrived at the parking lot, they discovered three people with gunshot wounds: a young woman in the front seat of a gray car, a second young woman, and a teenage boy in the rear seat. At the scene, both of the passengers in the backseat were pronounced deceased.
The woman in the driver’s seat was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, according to the police, who also noted that her current status is unknown. According to the police, a second individual who had fled the area and been shot once but not seriously was discovered about a block away.
Asharray Thomas, 18, of Pine Bluff was the young woman whose death was discovered inside the vehicle, according to investigators. They mentioned that the 16-year-old found in the automobile was also from Pine Bluff but did not give his name.
The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory will conduct autopsies on both victims to determine the precise cause and manner of their deaths.
These murders were Pine Bluff’s fifth and sixth homicides thus far in 2023.
Bledsoe is being held in the Jefferson County jail, but the jail has not provided any information on the bond. Detectives are still hunting for at least three more suspects, according to the police.
